Description
Alsike clover – are more suitable for meadows and pastures than red clovers, because they last longer, sprout faster, and winter well. These clovers remain soft longer, do not overgrow, so the quality of the fodder will be better.
Use: for hay, haylage, silage, grazing, feeding in green mass. Herbs for flour. Accumulates atmospheric nitrogen.
Cultivation features: grows well in wetter loams and peatlands, resistant to a more acidic reaction (pH 4-5), but most productive when grown in neutral conditions. These clovers tolerate one to two weeks of flooding.
