Westerwold ryegrass – there are also annuals (it is important to pay attention to the subspecies, as not all varieties overwinter). Westerwold ryegrass grow moderately intensively, and you can get up to five harvests for cutting, if there are enough nutrients and moisture. It can take 30-40 days from germination to the first harvest. In the first year of sowing, biennials almost do not form inflorescences, they are abundantly leafy.
Use: suitable for silage with beans and corn (improves assimilation of feed protein). Not suitable for hay.
Cultivation features: the soils are best suited humus medium loam. It grows poorly in waterlogged, heavy clay or very light, dry soils. Abundant fertilizing with mineral fertilizers, especially nitrogen, is recommended. Tolerates heat, does not tolerate drought. It can become a nuisance weed if it enters cereal or organic crops.
